Antiochia ad Cragum Ancient City – Places To Visit Near Alanya

Antiocheia Ad Cragum Ancient City, also known as Antiocheia Ad Cragum Güney Mahalle, is one of the places that attract the attention of travelers in Antalya. Just below the ancient city, there is Kral Bay, known as Delikdeniz.

The ruins of the city are located on a hill with a view. In the first section, you can see the colonnaded street, agora, bath and church ruins. The second part is the necropolis area where the tomb structures unique to the Cilicia region are located. The third section consists of medieval castle ruins on steep rocks stretching out to the sea.

The mythological Medusa figure was identified among the archaeological artifacts unearthed during the excavations carried out in 2015 and was brought to light.

Medusa, whose face is in good condition, is expected to be exhibited at the Alanya Archeology Museum after the restoration and conservation works are completed. It is considered to be a part of the temple pediment of the work, which was found close to the other broken pieces of the temple pediment and was processed slightly larger than the human size.
