Iranian Tourists in Van – No Rooms Left in Hotels

Van is one of the cities preferred by Iranian tourists. Due to the intensity experienced, the occupancy of the hotels reached 100 percent. Yunus Yüksel, Chairman of the Van Hoteliers and Tourism Association (VANOTED), who stated that there is no room in the hotels, recommended that those who come to the city should not come without a place to stay.

The tourism season is hectic in Van, which is preferred by Iranians especially because of its border neighbourhood. Iranians, who could not come to the city in about 2 years when the border gates were closed due to the pandemic, make the shopkeepers smile this year. This year, tourists from Iraq and neighboring countries are visiting the historical and touristic places of Van, shopping and having fun in entertainment venues. Tourists, who make the shopkeepers smile, continue to stay in the city despite the autumn season.

Explanation

Until September this year, approximately 350 thousand Iranian tourists entered the Kapikoy Customs Gate in the Saray district. Together with those coming from other countries, this figure reached 430 thousand. Yunus Yüksel, Chairman of the Van Hoteliers and Tourism Association (VANOTED), said that Iranian citizens had a great interest, especially after the pandemic. Stating that the hotels are 100 percent full because so many tourists come, Yüksel warned the tourists to come and said:

“Due to the huge amount of tourists coming to Van, there is no room in our hotels. We ask our guests to make a reservation in advance and come after that. Iranian citizens have recently preferred the city of Van. Especially because it is close and it is very convenient for shopping, Van” They come to Turkey for both their holidays and their shopping, and they can return to their countries in a short time.

Iranians also prefer the land route, especially since there is very little access to the city of Van by plane. Since it is close by land, they provide transportation to Van. The intensity continues until October 21, which is visible for now. We have both New Year and Christmas ahead of us. I think it will go very well when concerts are added, that is, until the New Year.”

In the continuation of his statement, Yüksel stated:

“There is currently no room in all our hotels, big and small, in Van. Hotel occupancy rates are extremely high right now. I can say that we are 100 percent full.
