Joshua’s Hill – Historical Religious Buildings in Istanbul
Joshua’s Hill , the highest peak close to the Bosphorus, has a magnificent view of the Bosphorus. The Tomb of Hazrat Yusha is located at the highest point of the hill. A mosque was built next to the tomb during the Ottoman period.
Where the hill is located is a bit difficult to go, but it’s a beautiful place worth it. The hill has a height of 200 meters from the Bosphorus and is surrounded by a forested area. There is a viewing terrace on the part of the mosque overlooking the Bosphorus. You can enjoy the view with hot or cold drinks to take with you.
Joshua’s Hill has been considered a holy place since the first settlement of Istanbul until today. It is stated that there was a Zeus temple on the hill in the early ages, and then this temple was turned into a church in the Byzantine period.
Joshua’s Hill is a place with an extraordinary Bosphorus view. The view of both Bosphorus bridges can be watched from the place where the vehicle entrances are made to the hill.
