Miletus Museum – A Beautiful Museum to Visit in Didim

The static structure of the museum building, which started to serve in 1973, deteriorated over time.

When the old museum building was closed, work was started for the construction of a new building. The new museum building, which has a usage area of ​​1200 square meters, was opened in May 2011. The museum is composed of two main parts, garden display and indoor display. Miletus museum, city symbol lion statues, grave steles, sarcophagi, inscriptions and column capitals are exhibited in the garden display.

The closed exhibition area is located in the administrative building of the Museum. In an area of ​​approximately 600 m2; The Ancient City of Miletus, the Ancient City of Priene and the Temple of Apollo in Didim are full of finds and are exhibited for people to see. 

There are kitchen utensils and tombs from the Minoan period in the Miletus Museum. The finds of a sacred road from the Temple of Apollo in Didim to the Ancient City of Miletus and the votive items of the temple are exhibited in this museum.

The location of this museum, which is 15 km away from the center of Didim, has very difficult transportation in terms of bus distances. Tourism companies are constantly organizing excursions. However, its distance from the holiday centers also makes it difficult to visit the place with ancient history.
